5: Method

The recordings selected for detailed investigation and publication were first prepared (precise synchronisation of the recordings, subtitling, editing of standard information). The attributes of the pictures and picture processes were then tagged, and phases of graphic development, the picture status and special aspects of human figure drawing were assigned. All classifications were made using three catalogues of attributes. Following this standardised description of morphological and processual characteristics, the recordings were then given an individual commentary and were collated with different cut versions for clarification depending on specific details.

The results and assertions of this study were derived from this analysis of the individual documents.

The film recordings and their analyses were undertaken from 2007 to 2009, and they were then transferred to the Internet archive in 2010.
