1: Genesis

"Genesis derives from the legendary tension that Johannes Itten addresses exemplarily in his teaching on design and forms. Inside and/or outside are combined or separated from case to case in such a way as to create meaning, though here again cause and effect are not separated from each other in the element of tension as syncretism. Pictures do not conform – as language suggests – to a uniform reference system that is complete in itself. Pictures are structured pre-positionally and post-nominally. They can change their reference in the course of a single line, even though hand and pencil do not leave the line. The eye can stay with the line and thus take up the connection with other lines or be tempted to flirt with the horizon. The fact that the obvious connection with the line itself is defined at the same time self-referentially is based on the exclusive quality of considering that reality as genuine coin that is ultimately not covered by any currency. And definitely not by perception itself!" (Heiz, 2009, "Coming into being")
