Several authors afford overviews and discuss the general matter of so-called "cross-cultural" aspects of early drawings in ontogeny and of early human figure drawings; see, e.g., Richter (2001, part 1), Golomb (2002, 2004, chapter 10), Cox (2005, chapter 10), Jolley (2010, chapter 9). In the Intermezzo mezzo, a selection of citations is compiled in order to illustrate the entire range of the related positions taken.
